It's a mindset!

"Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought." —Henri Bergson: Was a French philosopher

Ask any first-time marathoner and he or she will tell you, "You must train your legs, your arms, and your heart. But if you don’t train your mind, you’ll never finish." The reality remains, if you don’t use your mind, you won’t finish anything worthwhile that you ever aim to accomplish. Any goal you wish to achieve needs to be visualized and perfected in your mind before you even begin to take action. If you want to look and feel a certain way, you have to get mentally prepared. Set a goal, visualize a positive outcome, and take action. Mental conditioning and physical training go hand in hand.

It all starts with you!

As Spring draws closer, you'll notice one of your neighbors planting flowers. Then, after a few days, another neighbor will follow her example. Then another. And another. By mid-spring, your neighborhood has an entirely new spirit, thanks to the new color and beauty found in most everyone's yard. That's exactly how you make a difference in the world. You begin by improving yourself. Then you inspire others by what you've done. With time, you'll discover that just like the spring flowers in your yard, your neighbors, your colleagues, your friends and your family have blossomed -- and that you have, too. Take your health serious by making fitness a lifestyle and not a fad. If you lead, others will follow.

Lesson Learned!

Mother in labor gets a major contraction. She wants it to stop. But whoever is gathered around to assist is making sure she doesn't. Her willingness to endure the pain, to go with the pain, brings forth a new baby. I think there's a lesson in this for all of us, Men included.
This same principal applies to your fitness goals. There will be some pain and you will want it to go away, but the reward is much greater.

Common Excuses Not To Exercise

Here are the common excuses I get from clients for not exercising:

Traveling today
Used the hot tub/sauna, and that's exercise isn't it?
Too hot
On vacation
It was raining
Will do it tomorrow
Too cold outside
Too busy
The park where I walk closes at sundown
Exercise partner was away on vacation
Have to drive my son to school
Chain broke on bicycle, so I can't exercise
Exercise equipment is in the basement, and I don't like it down there?

What's your excuse for not exercising?

I hate excuses with a passion....
